Senator Kamala Devi Harris

August 17, 2020

Before the Iowa caucuses I was overwhelmed by the choice of so many good Americans offering to be nominated as the Democratic candidate for the office of president of the United States of America. I had been impressed by Senator Harris in senate hearings, she was focused and unflappable.

But so were the others: Andrew Yang really impressed me, so did my own senator from New Jersey, Senator Cory Booker.By November I had settled on Senator Harris after I met some of her volunteers, and attended a debate watch party.

I wrote the other essay after the November debate party. Shortly after that, Senator Harris removed herself from consideration, quietly and forcefully working in the senate. In August 2020 she was nominated as the Democratic candidate for vice president of the United States of America. Well done Senator Harris, and we want you to win.

In the November debate, the senator accused the congresswoman of spending 4 years during the Obama administration being paid by Fox News to attack the Obama Administration policies. The Washington Post, which fact checked statements, did not object to this accusation.

Rep Tulsi is leaving Congress in January 2021, she did not get far in the race to become president. Will she fade out of our memory or come back stronger in the next decade? We do not know, but we do know that Senator Kamala is the Democratic candidate for vice president for the United States of America. I wish them both well, and hope their lives will tip towards helping, rather than hurting.

November 2019

Senator Kamala Harris has my vote for the Democratic candidate for the president of the United States of America.

Senator Kamala is the junior senator from California, and was attorney-general of the state of California - which is the world's 5th largest economy. She has won three elections: for San Francisco, for California, and for one of the two senators for a huge state that arguably should be three or four states. She has never lost an election.

During the November 20 presidential candidate debate, the senator started attacking Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard. Both are the only two candidates ever who have run for the presidential nomination with Sanskrit names. Kamala means lotus; Tulsi means basil. Both are very smart, fearless women.
